Casa Pueblo

Casapueblo situated in Punta Ballena (Whale Point) near Punta del Este, Uruguay, is the house of Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró It is an homage to his son Carlitos Miguel, one of the sixteen survivors of the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571.

Casapueblo is now a citadel-sculpture that includes a museum, an art gallery, and the Hotel Casapueblo.
Built around a tin box called La Pionera (The Pioneer), Páez Vilaró designed it with a style that can be equated to the Mediterranean coast houses from Santorini; however, the architect usually referred to hornero, a typical bird of Uruguay, when discussing the construction style.
You can see beautiful views of the ocean and Punta del Este sky scrappers.

Attention everyone - special sale today ...

Beautiful sunset at the point, I had less then 5 minutes to shoot a shot or two before it got too dark. It was a nice welcome to Colonia. I was told about the beautiful sunsets here. On the other side is Buenos Aires, you can see it on a clear day and at night.

Montevideo - The capital city.

A visit to the capital cities is a must along my travels. I usually don't like cities. But a few days to check 'm out is always worth it.
Montevideo is a "quiet" South American city. Still with a population of over 1.5 million, it is Tranquilo like the rest of the country. Horns and polution , yes, but thats part of the city. The paste of life is a little on the slower then it's neighbor - Buenos Aires in Argentina -
